Did You Know?

Child abuse is the leading cause of death in children under the age of 4?

Three children die every day in the United States as a result of child abuse.

Over 40% of children who leave the foster care system at age 18 will become homeless, incarcerated or on public assistance.

The All-Star Children's Foundation (formerly Sarasota Sports Foundation) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was founded in January of 2005 with the goal and determination to end child abuse. In just three short years, through the generosity of many corporate sponsors, donors and volunteers, the Foundation has raised over $2,000,000 for our most vulnerable children. Although we have come a long way since our beginnings, we still have a long and rewarding journey ahead of us.

Why Is Child Abuse Prevention So Important?

The impact of child abuse and neglect can be profound. Research shows that child maltreatment can have negative effects that can last a lifetime. Child abuse is preventable, yet each year in the United States, close to one million children are confirmed victims of child maltreatment. (2007 Prevent Child Abuse America) Child abuse knows no boundaries. It exists in every corner of the country and in every socioeconomic environment.
