Grand Slam Tennis Classic

This year, over 500 sports enthusiasts joined the All-Star Children’s Foundation for an amazing three day tennis event to help raise funds to break the cycle of child abuse, neglect and abandonment. The 5th Annual Serving Up a Grand Slam Tennis Classic was held on May 8-10, 2009 at the beautiful Longboat Key Club & Resort, the Foundation’s Official Sponsor.

On Friday, May 8, the weekend festivities kicked off with the "Groovy Kind of Love" Grand Slam Party at the Harbourside Dining Room. Guests enjoyed an elegant dinner, live entertainment from the DeLeon Band and a fabulous silent and live auction. Dressed in their "groovy attire", guests danced the night away to the 70's!

The action heated up on Saturday and Sunday when over 200 people played in a Mixed, Men’s and Women’s Doubles Tennis Tournament led by USPTA Tournament Director, John Woods. Click here to see our 2009 Champions in each division.

In addition to the tennis tournament, players had the opportunity to shop at our first ever Serving Up Seconds Sale! Previously loved treasures were on sale all day to raise even more money for our most vulnerable children. In just a few short hours, we raised over $1600! On Saturday evening, players and guests enjoyed an awesome Celebrity Pro Exhibition spearheaded by tennis great Petr Korda. Petr, Taylor Dent, Xavier Malisse and  dazzled everyone with their fun-filled fabulous tennis. Jim Long even enjoyed playing a few games with these world-class tennis players. Sitting in the umpire chair during the Pro Exhibition was Sarasota's own sportscaster, Antawan Smith.

We are so appreciative of all of the support from our sponsors, participants, celebrities and volunteers who made this event such a huge success!
