ALL-STAR CHILDREN'S FOUNDATION MISSION
The mission of the All-Star Children's Foundation is to raise money to prevent child abuse, neglect and abandonment in our community.

PURPOSE OF THE FOUNDATION'S GRANTMAKING PROGRAM

  • Respond to emerging or changing needs through the provision of services or programs.
  • Strengthen the capabilities of nonprofit agencies both in the delivery of programs and in organizational management.
  • Spark change in the way community problems are addressed and solutions are implemented.

The Grants Committee will seek the greatest impact for the funding while recognizing that prevention is more cost effective than treatment.

GRANTMAKING PRIORITIES

  • Education
  • Training
  • Prevention
  • Treatment

The Foundation will only consider grant applications from 501 (c)(3) non-profit, tax-exempt organizations that serve residents in our community.  Grants will not be awarded to political organizations or political campaigns. Generally, the Foundation will not provide support for the following:

  • Deficit financing and debt retirement
  • Endowment funds
  • Individuals
  • Religious organizations for sectarian purposes
  • Fundraising events
  • Lobbying legislators or influencing elections

HOW GRANT PROPOSALS ARE PROCESSED
All applications for grants must be made by completing the Foundation's grant application. The Foundation's Grants Committee reviews these applications and then makes recommendations to the Foundation's Board of Directors. Because there is never enough money to support all of the deserving projects presented to our Foundation, we suggest that you investigate other funding sources. If you are approaching other funding sources, we require that you let us know who you are approaching. If your project is funded by any other source during the course of this process, you are required to inform us in writing.

Inquiries concerning these guidelines or the Foundation's policies should be addressed to info@allstarchildrensfoundation.org. The Foundation's Board of Directors should not be approached concerning funding requests, as the Foundation abides by a strict conflict of interest policy.   Furthermore, Board Members do not have the ability to approve funding requests or to obtain preferential treatment for any particular grant application.

The Foundation has one granting cycle per year. The Board of Directors is looking forward to granting funds to several deserving non-profit agencies who are committed to breaking the cycle of child abuse. Those agencies who are receiving a grant will be notified by the end of the year.

HOW GRANT APPLICATIONS ARE EVALUATED
In reviewing grant applications, the Foundation gives careful consideration to the following:

  • The potential impact of the request and the number of people who will benefit;
  • The extent to which the needs are not being addressed by governmental, public or private sources;
  • The imaginative, new and/or collaborative approach;
  • The extent of local volunteer involvement and support for the project;
  • The commitment and composition of the organization's Board of Directors;
  • The degree to which the applicant works with or complements services of other organizations;
  • The organization's fiscal responsibility and management qualifications;
  • The possibility of using the grant as seed money for matching funds from other sources;
  • The ability of the program to obtain the necessary additional funding to implement the project;
  • The ability of the organization to provide ongoing funding after the term of the grant;
  • The potential visibility of the project; and
  • The ability of the project to spark change or show entrepreneurial initiative.

REQUIREMENTS FOR GRANT PAYMENT

  • Payment of a grant will be made to an organization upon the Foundation's receipt of a signed grant agreement and satisfaction of any conditions outlined in the agreement.
  • Grant recipients are required to report on the expenditure of funds awarded to them from the Foundation within one year of the grant award.
  • Funds not utilized in accordance with the conditions and terms of the grant agreement or grant application must be returned to the Foundation.
  • Grant recipients must complete any post grant outcome and measurement form required by the Foundation.
